Tips for Traveling While Trying to Conceive

Tips for Traveling While Trying to Conceive
Traveling while trying to conceive can be an exciting experience, but can sometimes feel overwhelming to prioritize your health at the same time! By following these easy but important tips and tricks, you can proactively prepare for your trip, stay on track with your fertility health goals, and set yourself up for success:

Step 1: Before you go

Before you embark on your journey, take some time to prepare yourself physically and mentally. Start by packing snacks or a meal for the airport. This will ensure that you have nourishing options readily available and won’t have to rely on unfamiliar or highly processed foods. Consider packing leftovers from the night before or ordering a salad or grain bowl that can be easily carried through security. Prioritize snacks that are high in fiber, protein, and healthy fats for optimal nourishment.

We often forget about our supplements when we travel, but fortunately, WeNatal comes with easy travel-sized pill containers that are easy to bring on the go! Before your trip, prefill your supplement bottles and pack any other prenatal supplements that you take daily. If you often forget to take your supplements, set a reminder or alarm on your phone for breakfast or lunch time each day.

You can also bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout your trip. Traveling can be dehydrating, and having a water bottle will help keep you hydrated. You can even pack minerals or electrolytes drops to enhance your hydration game.

Step 2: On the road

While traveling, it’s fun to explore new cultures and indulge in different foods. However, it’s also important to maintain some of your favorite wellness practices to continue feeling your best.

Aim to include protein, vegetables/fruits, complex carbs, and healthy fats into your meals. Veggies and fiber tend to be neglected while traveling, but they are super important for getting those antioxidants, supporting regularity, balancing blood sugar, and fighting inflammation. If you’re struggling to get enough, try starting with a salad, order a side of veggies, or add extra lettuce to your sandwiches or wraps.

Don’t forget to prioritize joyful movement during your travels. Even if it’s just 10 minutes of body weight exercises in your hotel room or walking to explore your travel destination can boost your energy levels and support your fertility journey. As an added bonus, bring some of your favorite wellness practices with you, for example practice your favorite skincare routine, hair mask, gua sha, or gratitude journal. These small habits can make a big difference in how you feel by maintaining consistency.

Step 3: Heading home

Before you return home, ease back into your routine by pre-ordering groceries or considering a nourishing meal delivery service. This will help you transition smoothly from your travel experience. Be intentional about rehydrating and nourishing yourself with delicious and nutrient-dense meals.

Remember to have fun and enjoy your travel experience. Maintain a flexible mindset and try not stress over minor deviations from your typical routines. One meal, day, or even week of indulgence won’t have a drastic impact on your overall health or fertility journey. Embrace the opportunity to explore new places, cultures, and experiences, and focus on feeling your happiest and most energized self throughout your trip!
