Key Nutrients

Choline

Choline is essential for your baby’s spinal cord and brain development, gene expression, and tissue production as well as possibly reducing risk of neural tube defects, autism, and Down syndrome.

Methylfolate

Folate supplementation during pregnancy is proven to reduce risk of neural tube disorders and megaloblastic anemia, reduces other birth defects, preterm birth, and (if taken preconception) small-for-gestational-age.

Iodine

Mild to moderate iodine deficiency is common among women of childbearing age and low iodine levels may reduce chances of pregnancy.

FERROCHEL® IRON BISGLYCINATE

Iron is needed to make red blood cells and carry oxygen to all of mom’s and baby’s body tissues. Pregnant women need at least 50% more iron compared to non-pregnant women. Clinical research shows Ferrochel® is more bioavailable than many conventional iron forms and significantly less likely to cause the constipation and nausea commonly associated with ferrous sulfate. Better tolerability means better consistency, and consistency is what actually moves your iron levels.

Selenium

Low selenium levels has been linked to increase risk of miscarriage as well as damage to the nervous and immune systems of the developing baby. Selenium also supports healthy follicles within the ovaries which play a role in the development and release of the egg.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is critical for growth of most cells and organs including eyes, heart, and lungs. Low vitamin A during pregnancy is associated with night blindness and anemia in mothers. Infants born to mothers with low vitamin A have increased risk for severe vision problems, heart defects, orofacial defects, delayed growth, and impaired lung function.

Vitamin B12

B12 is critical for reducing risk of infertility, miscarriage, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and preterm birth. Deficiency is associated with low birth weight, neural tube defects, serious heart defects, and childhood diabetes.

Vitamin D3

4,000 IU of vitamin D daily is shown to be most effective in reducing risks like miscarriage, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, low birth weight, preterm birth, infections, and postpartum depression.

Zinc

Zinc supplementation during pregnancy has been associated with a reduction in preterm birth and lower risk of infections.

Vitamin B6

Milk + Mood uses vitamin B6 in its active, coenzyme-ready form, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), rather than the pyridoxine form found in many supplements.

Choline

Choline is one of the most important, and most under-consumed, nutrients during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It supports infant brain and nervous system development, and it passes into breast milk, so how much a nursing parent takes in influences how much reaches the baby.

Lutein

Lutein is a carotenoid that concentrates in both the brain and the retina, where it supports visual and neurological development. Babies cannot make it themselves, so breastfed infants depend on the amount that transfers through breast milk.

Organic Milk Thistle Seed Extract

Most people know milk thistle (Silybum marianum) as a liver-supportive herb, but its active compounds, collectively known as silymarin, have a long traditional history in lactation support too. Along with moringa and shatavari, milk thistle rounds out the formula's fenugreek-free botanical blend.

Organic Moringa Leaf Extract

Moringa oleifera leaf is one of the best-studied botanical galactagogues, herbs traditionally used to support breast milk production. Compared with many herbs marketed for lactation, moringa has a relatively strong body of human research looking at its effect on milk volume, including a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in early postpartum mothers.

Organic Shatavari Root Extract

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) root has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to support women's reproductive health, including lactation.  Modern research is beginning to catch up. One recent randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study found that parents taking shatavari root extract produced more breast milk and reported greater satisfaction with breastfeeding than those receiving a placebo.

Phosphatidylcholine

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the phospholipid form of choline, and it earns its own line on the label because of the structural work it does. PC is a building block of cell membranes throughout the body, including the brain, and it contributes phospholipids to breast milk, among them components of the milk fat globule membrane that supports healthy infant development.

Saffron Extract

Saffron is one of the more researched botanicals for mood, and it is in Milk + Mood to support mood and emotional wellbeing during a demanding season.  It is not a substitute for therapy, medication, or professional care, and anyone taking a prescription mood medication should talk with their provider before adding it.

Zeaxanthin

Zeaxanthin is lutein's paired carotenoid and the other primary carotenoid found in the macula of the retina. Like lutein, it passes into breast milk, supporting the baby's developing eyes, and it supports maternal eye health as well.

I've been taking this supplement

"I've been taking this supplement for almost 3 years to support my first pregnancy, postpartum/nursing, and now second pregnancy nutrient needs! The ingredients are high quality and Wenatal doesn't skip any of the necessary nutrients needed during this heightened period of life for a woman's body (most supplements do, or hide behind ingredients that aren't even bioavailable for your body). I recommend this product to all my friends trying to get pregnant and beyond!"

I love the prenatals! They

"I love the prenatals! They do not have a smell at all which has been the only one I've tried that I can stomach in the first trimester. I can feel good about what is inside and that I am getting everything I need. Bonus that the container is weighted and very nice to sit out in the bathroom."

After lots of research as

"After lots of research as a student midwife I settled on this multivitamin. It’s excellent, not an unreasonable number of capsules. One other note worthy thing is the peppermint inclusion. This can be a positive for those struggling with capsules or nausea and vomiting but is not ideal for those planning to breastfeed in the postpartum. It may not be enough to limit a robust milk supply but otherwise is an ideal supplement for the prenatal period."

The world of prenatals can

"The world of prenatals can be so overwhelming, there are so many options out there. I did a lot of research on ingredients, the most optimized forms, researched backed supplements and recommended doses for baby development, etc. and WeNatal always came on top. There are other great and popular ones out there, but they are either missing something that makes you have to supplement separately or the doses were below the researched and recommended levels. WeNatal is so complete and so well formulated that it gives me peace of mind that my wife and baby are getting the optimal nutrients for their development and wellbeing. Just to put the cherry on top, I showed her OBGYN and he literally said “Wow, this is the most complete prenatal I have seen”"

Easy to swallow, no aftertaste,

"Easy to swallow, no aftertaste, and packed with quality nutrition. Also really appreciate the lab testing transparency - this is rare in any vitamin/supplement."

WeNatal covers more than most

"WeNatal covers more than most prenatals. Furthermore, the customer service that WeNatal provides is unprecedented. They have gone above and beyond with every inquiry I have had. Plus, they follow up after . Thank you WeNatal"

Busy mom’s life made easier

"I’ve been taking the WeNatal for her intermittently for the past year or so and these prenatal vitamins have been great! I love how it eliminates the need to take other supplements that I’m required to take throughout the IVF frozen embryo transfer process. I’m able to avoid having to purchase extra supplements because they’re included in the For Her prenatal vitamins. It saves me money and time every morning from having to take 12 different pills. They have impeccable customer service as well, very speedy, efficient, and caring which I appreciate so much. They make everything very easy. I’m a mom to a 2 year old toddler boy (also IVF) who works 3 jobs, so I can use all the help I can get!"

— Jessica H. (5/5)

So far, so good! I

"So far, so good! I started these a few months ago in preparation, but we JUST started trying. Hopefully back with good news soon!"
