We recommend you start taking WeNatal for Her at least 3-6 months before trying to get pregnant. However, it is generally a good idea for most women of reproductive age to take a prenatal supplement, and thus can be started long before conception.

Yes! We have included key nutrients to support healing during postpartum and breastfeeding: iron, B complex vitamins, choline, vitamin D, and antioxidants. We recommend remaining on your prenatal for at least 6-9  months after giving birth, and at least 12 months if you are breastfeeding in order to help replenish nutrient stores in your body.

Not quite. Our Vitamin D is from lanolin, which is the most studied source for that nutrient. We could've opted for vegan Vitamin D, but there's simply not enough research to support its effectiveness. Although we adore our vegan friends, we felt it was most important for every one of our ingredients to have scientific backing.

Yes. Each refill pouch includes a small plastic heart scented with a blend of organic peppermint essential oils. It's not part of the supplement and isn't meant to be swallowed. It sits in the pouch to balance the natural aroma of our high-potency ingredients, sourced and processed to National Organic Program standards, with no artificial chemicals or synthetic fragrance.

If you're sensitive or allergic to peppermint or essential oils, remove the heart from the pouch before use.

Vitamin A plays important roles in genetic expression, embryonic development, organ formation during fetal development, normal immune function, eye development, and vision.

WeNatal for Her includes two forms of vitamin A: mixed carotenoids, which are the plant-based family of vitamin A compounds found in nature (including beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene), and preformed vitamin A as palmitate, which is readily absorbed and used by the body.

Some people have a difficult time converting carotenoids into active (palmitate) vitamin A. However, high intakes of preformed vitamin A can accumulate in the body, which is why we carefully balance the two forms as the body converts carotenoids on an as needed bases.

WeNatal for Her provides 990 mcg RAE from mixed carotenoids and 1,210 mcg RAE from vitamin A palmitate recommended by current research. This combination helps support vitamin A needs during preconception and pregnancy while keeping the amount of preformed vitamin A well below the established adult tolerable upper intake level of more than 3,000 mcg RAE [10,000 IU] daily from preformed vitamin A.

Mixed carotenoids have not been linked to the same concerns as high-dose preformed vitamin A, because the body regulates their conversion based on need. Still, we recommend being mindful of additional concentrated sources of preformed vitamin A, especially liver, cod liver oil, or high-dose vitamin A supplements, so total daily intake stays within safe limits unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider.

Pregnant women need at least double the amount of iron compared to non-pregnant women. 

We use a specific form of iron - Ferrochel®. Ferrochel® is ionically neutral, so it does not deactivate or block the absorption of other nutrients like Calcium. This is especially important in multivitamins for gestating mothers and growing children.

Unless advised by a licensed healthcare professional due to your individual needs, you should not supplement with additional iron.

Supplementing with higher doses of vitamin D in pregnancy has been correlated with improved bone mineralization of the baby compared to those with standard dosing.

Folate (vitamin B9) is crucial for dozens of biological processes throughout the body, but not all folate is created equal. Folate is naturally occurring in certain foods and this is the active form that the body can use easily. The synthetic form, known as “folic acid,” is found in the majority of supplements, including prenatals, because it’s cheap and stable to manufacture. However, folic acid is a concern because as many as 60% of people have a difficult time processing the synthetic form due to at least one variant of their MTHFR gene. WeNatal for her contains 1350 mcg DFE of folate (Ca-5MTHF, Magnafolate-Pro).

It’s a blend of organic peppermint oils sourced and processed according to strict standards set by the National Organic Program, ensuring they’re derived from all-natural, non-synthetic sources. Preconception: Supports energy production, mood, and builds nutrient reserves so that mom and baby are both sure to have what they need. Key nutrients that are often low in women of childbearing age include vitamin D and iron, both of which you want at optimal levels before pregnancy. Having enough B vitamins, especially folate, is key for supporting a healthy pregnancy. Also, inositol may support a healthy conception if taken before and during the process of getting pregnant.

1st trimester: Folate and choline support healthy neural tube development and facilitate healthy brain development in the critical 28 days after you conceive. Also, increasing blood supply makes iron especially important during the first trimester. Vitamin C not only supports bone and tissue development, but also enhances the absorption of iron.

2nd trimester: Nutrients such as vitamin D, B vitamins, and copper will support the continual development and growth of your baby’s newly formed organs and tissues.

3rd trimester: Helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels when used as part of a healthy diet. Supports baby with nutrients through delivery. Nutrients such as vitamin C, D,  magnesium, and antioxidants are especially important in the maintenance of healthy blood pressure already within the normal range. Adequate choline in the 3rd trimester has been associated with better cognitive function late in baby’s life.

Postpartum: To help mom with the healing process postpartum, as well as promote a healthy milk supply, iron, B complex vitamins, choline, vitamin D, and antioxidants are key.

Some women may notice temporary changes in their cycle during the first 1–3 months of starting a comprehensive prenatal or fertility supplement. As the body adjusts to consistent intake of nutrients such as iron, B vitamins, folate, and vitamin D, especially if nutritional needs were previously unmet, cycle patterns may feel a little different at first.

For many women, these changes are temporary and may regulate over time as the body adapts and nutrient levels are supported. This is one reason many healthcare providers suggest giving any new wellness routine time and consistency before evaluating how it feels for your body.

It’s also important to remember that when trying to conceive, many people make several lifestyle changes at once, such as adjusting nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, or adding multiple supplements. Stress, travel, eating pattern changes, and natural hormonal fluctuations can all influence the menstrual cycle, so timing can sometimes feel connected even when several factors may be involved.

That said, persistent spotting, heavy bleeding, pain, or any bleeding that feels unusual for you should always be discussed with your OB-GYN or healthcare provider for personalized guidance.

We've recently introduced a new delayed-release capsule for WeNatal for Her. The capsule shell is slightly thicker, which may make newly opened capsules appear lighter than previous batches. This is a normal product update and does not affect the quality, safety, or effectiveness of your supplements.

WeNatal is made without artificial dyes, fillers, or preservatives, slight color variations are completely normal.

Once a pouch is opened, exposure to air can cause the capsules to gradually darken over time. This natural change may be more noticeable in warmer months, but it does not affect the quality of the nutrients.

You may also notice slight color differences from one batch to another. Because many of our ingredients are naturally derived and we don't use artificial dyes to create a uniform appearance, some variation is expected.
